Do Landlords Throw Tenants Out Or Is It The Other Way Round?

{{ post.title }}
Tenants can be classified into many different categories. Some of these behave so badly that their landlords have to throw them out. And others? Well, they behave even worse and leave the landlords no choice, but to leave themselves. At least that is what a tenant just recently did.

The tenant that we are talking about behaved so poorly that he forced his landlords to leave their own residence and opt for staying in a local hotel. Over the past few weeks, the matter has received a lot of attention, but the tenant still has not stopped being impossible. According to the authorities, he has demanded a substantial amount and only then has he agreed to move out.

The tenant that we are talking about rented a basement room in an average neighborhood in the month of July. At the closing of the deal, the tenant signed a contract that clearly put a ban on tobacco and alcohol usage. The tenant did not follow this clause of the agreement and made no attempt to hide it. In fact, he used to drink and become so noisy that many of the times, the neighbors called the police.

After a while, the landlords told the tenant that they wanted him out and that he should vacate the premises. Once again, the tenant paid no attention to the demands of his landlord and just abused and threatened them. He even started damaging their property by drilling holes in the wall, destroying the fireplace, breaking the lights, burning the carpet, and so on. The landlords complained to the police and learned that the tenant had been arrested in the past as well.

The landlords were so scared by the tenant’s threats that they just moved out of their own home. They were interested in taking the matter to the court, but later on decided against it. They even agreed to pay the tenant $500 along with his security deposit if he would leave immediately.

The above story clearly highlights that tenants can be way too impossible at times. If you are a landlord, this might get you worrying, but we have some advice that can help you stay away from stubborn tenants:

Review a credit report of your tenant
Contact his references (most landlords never follow through with this)
Conduct a background check.

Following all these steps will help keep you from renting to destructive tenants.
